A while back it was my honor to paint a portrait of Mr. Jim Rogers while he was president and CEO Duke Energy the largest electrical utility in the U.S.

Under Rogers leadership Duke Energy was recognized as a leader in sustainability, his book “Lighting the World” explores the issues involved in bringing electricity to over 1.2 billion people on earth who lacked it, the book asserts that access to electricity should be recognized as a basic human right.

In 2011, along with Joe Hale, Rogers founded the “Global Bright Light Foundation”, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing economically sustainable home solar lighting systems to people around the world who do not have electricity.

My second painting accepted as a semi-finalist by Art Renewal Center 17th Annual International Salon Competition is First Tear, in the figurative category, and will be joining George on the moon as part of the Lunar Codex. First Tear was painted near Ross’s Landing (north of Chattanooga, TN on the Tennessee River) the gateway to “The Trail of Tears”.

The Lunar Codex is a set of time capsules launched on three NASA-related missions, including the work of 7,000 creatives. It will be the first significant placement of contemporary arts on the Moon in 50 years.

Helen Taylor 30x24 2024 Oil
Several years ago, I painted Helen with her two young daughters. She was nice to let me paint her again as a sample for Portraits Inc.

Her quiet smile has always been a joy to me.

Thank you, Helen.
